Bring in your own photos, slides, negatives, or everyday documents that you would like to save to a more reliable, user-friendly version for future generations on the Epson Perfection V600 Photo.

The basics:

Use the DVD Recorder/VCR Line In Recorder - ZV427FX4 (VHS converter) to transfer all of your old VHS tapes to DVDs. Bring in your old VHS tapes that you would like to save to a more reliable, user-friendly version for future generations.

The basics:

Print 3-Dimensional objects from a digital file! Anything you can imagine, you can print. Children’s toys, buttons, and parts for a bike are just the tip of the iceberg of the many creations that can come alive with the 3D printer.

What you'll need:
  • To begin, you’ll need to choose a design from ThingiversePinshape, or design your own with TinkerCAD or 3DSlash. (These are available on any public computer in the library.)
  • A flash drive is required to save your file. You may bring one or purchase one from the library for $4.00.
  • File must be .OBJ or .STL
  • Staff will need time to verify your print job and prepare the machine. 

More Information

To start designing your own objects, TinkerCAD is popular web-based software that will save your objects in the proper file formats. Tutorials are available from the TinkerCAD website. 3DSlash is another web-based option that you can use to create objects. Tutorials are available from the 3DSlash website. Object files can be converted using the Cube software on the MakerSpace computer.

If you’d like to print one of the thousands of pre-designed objects available at Thingiverse or Pinshape, simply follow the links and begin searching using keywords.

Once your item has been designed or selected, a 3D Printing Request Form will need to be filled out and submitted to library staff along with your .stl or .obj file. Staff will print 3D items in the order in which they are received. You will be contacted by library staff when your 3D print is ready for pickup.

Cost:

Cost is $1.00 per hour of printing with a minimum charge of $1.00. Call any location or see staff for more details.

The basics:

This heat press heats up to 450º F. It can be used for sublimation projects, with heat transfer vinyl, or Cricut® Infusible Ink projects.

The press comes with five attachments. (Only Library staff are permitted to switch out the attachments on the heat press.)

The button maker is quick and easy to learn! Make a button to support your favorite sports team, show your love for your favorite band, or just make one for fun! Create buttons and magnets using fabric, printer paper, or photo paper.

Bring your own design – images must be scaled to .75 inches for the 1-inch buttons and  2.5 inches for the 3-inch buttons in diameter with a border and saved as JPEG, GIF, PNG, or .DOC to be printed. You can also bring a hard copy of your image if it’s ready to go.

The basics:

The Cricut® is perfect for crafting. Use it to cut anything from paper, to vinyl, to felt for any type of project that you might be working on.

What you'll need:
Choose a ready-made design from the software’s library, or come prepared to design your own. Tutorials are available on the Cricut® website. The library only provides cardstock and printer paper. If you would like to use a different material, you’ll need to bring that with you.
You must create a free Cricut Design Space™ account before you begin cutting your project.
 
Cost:
  • Use of the Cricut® is free if you provide all of your own supplies.

  • Cardstock can be purchased from the library for $0.30 per sheet.

The basics:

Our laminators are designed for use with thermal laminating pouches for paper or flat paper-like items between two film layers. Staff will offer assistance and instruction on proper and safe use. The library is not responsible for damage to documents.

Features:

Our laminators can handle any document up to 8-1/2" x 11" in size. 

What you'll need:

You only need to bring the documents you'd like to laminate, which should be limited to paper or flat items that will not be damaged by heat. Please note that social security cards and vaccination cards should not be laminated.

Cost:
  • $0.25 for any size document up to 8-1/2" x 11" (multiple small items may be placed in one lamination envelope at no extra charge). 
  • Supplies not provided by the library are not permitted.

The basics:

Learn to sew, make simple projects, or quick repairs with our Bernina Bernette 20 sewing machine capable of quilting, monogramming, and creating buttonholes.

What you'll need:

You will be responsible for bringing any fabrics, patterns, and additional items that you will need for your sewing project.
The machines require high-quality thread. Coats and Clark thread is not recommended. Machine-safe thread in basic colors will be available in the MakerSpace. 
Bobbins and buttons will be available in the MakerSpace.

Cost:
  • Use of the sewing machine is free of charge if you supply all of your own materials.
  • All library locations have a sewing kit with a limited amount of basic sewing supplies that may be checked out with your library card while using the sewing machine.

The basics:

A dye-sublimation printer uses special ink and paper to print your design or photograph The ink (or dye) can then be heat-transferred onto polyester materials or materials with a polyester coating, called “sublimation blanks.” 

Features:

You can create designs and heat transfer them to t-shirts, mugs, hats, bags, and more through this process. The design has to be printed on special sublimation paper up to 8.5” x 14” which can be purchased from the library. 

What you'll need:

Your design should be saved as a PDF or JPG file on a USB Drive. You can also create your design on the Library’s computers using free programs like Cricut Design Space™ or Canva. Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop can be used. These programs are available on the MakerSpace Mac.

  • If your image has text be sure to mirror your design before printing. This will ensure the text is in the correct direction on your finished project.

  • Print your design and use one of our heat presses to transfer the design to the sublimation blank.

Cost:
  • The Library will stock a variety of sublimation blanks in the MakerSpace that customers can purchase. 

  • If bringing your own materials, they must be compatible with the machine.

    • Fabric or t-shirts must be at least 65% polyester and light-colored. The more polyester in the fabric, the more vivid your image will be.

    • Other materials must be made specifically for sublimation (have a polyester coating).
