Read Your Socks Off Reading Challenge
Adults and teens in Tuscarawas County are encouraged to get reading in 2025 by participating in the Library’s new Read Your Socks Off Reading Challenge. Participants are challenged to read 25 books in 2025. Those who complete the challenge will receive a free pair of fun “Read Your Socks Off” socks.

Interested participants can download the Beanstack Tracker app on any smart phone or tablet, or by visiting tusclibrary.beanstack.org on the web. A paper version of the challenge will also be offered at each of the library system’s five locations.

The Read Your Socks Off Challenge begins January 1st, 2025, and runs through December 31st, 2025. Participants are only eligible to complete the challenge once. Socks are available while supplies last.

Reading Level Resources

Looking for books to match your child’s reading level?
The Tuscarawas County Public Library System organizes children’s books by subject (nonfiction via the Dewey Decimal System) or author (fiction) rather than reading level. Our fiction spine labels do indicate if a book is a beginner reader(BR), easy (E), chapter (CH), or juvenile (J) book. Beginner readers, sometimes known as easy or early readers, usually consist of sight words and words that are easy to decode using phonics. The font is large and clear for independent readers.

Collection Development Policy

I - Purpose:

The purpose of this policy is to provide guidance for staff and to inform the public about the collection development principles of the Tuscarawas County Public Library. Collection development is the ongoing process of locating materials for purchase or licensing, within budgetary and space limitations, and making the decision, first, on their inclusion, and second, on their retention.

Mission & Vision:

Animals in the Library Policy

The Tuscarawas County Public Library System welcomes our customers who use service animals. As determined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), a service animal is defined as an animal (dog or miniature horse) that has been individually trained to work or perform tasks for the benefit of a person with a disability. The Ohio Administrative Code 4112-5-02 defines an animal assistant as any animal which aids a person with a disability. The work or task must be directly related to the person’s disability.
