Murder Mystery Dinner Fundraiser

The Friends of Tuscarawas County Public Library’s Main Library will host a Murder Mystery Dinner on Saturday, March 5th at 6:30 PM and Sunday, March 6th at 12:30 PM. The Friends of the Main Library is a 501(c)3 organization that raises funds for special projects at the library. This year, they have added a Murder Mystery Dinner to their fundraising agenda.

“We have been exploring new ways to raise funds,” said Friends of the Main Library President Candy Beaber. “Last fall we added a Wine & Paint event and this year we hope to continue to find new and exciting ways to raise funds to help support the library.”

The Murder Mystery Dinner, titled Murder in the Stacks, is $50 per person and requires tickets to be purchased in advance at the Main Library in New Philadelphia. Reservations are required by February 26th.

The comedic murder mystery was written by Tamara Benson. It is set in Old Town Public Library where the library is hosting the book launch of noted detective novelist and local author Richard Mann. The head librarian, Paige Turner, has warned all her staff to be on their best behavior, but there may be others coming who may cause trouble.

Dinner, which is included with each ticket, will feature a buffet-style dinner from Kathy’s Catering and includes baked chicken, roast beef, alfredo, green beans, seven-layer salad, broccoli salad, parsley potatoes, rolls, drinks, and desserts.

After dinner, guests will be able to ask questions to help determine who is the culprit, and those at each table will put forth theories after the interrogations. The table with the best guess will be the winner.

This fundraising event is sponsored in partnership by Shirley Wagner, HRN Construction and Restoration, and Tango & Gatti Inc.

The Main Library is located at 121 Fair Ave. NW in New Philadelphia. For more information on the show, call 330-364-4474 ext. 221.
