Adults ages 55 and up can participate in a specialty art series at the Main Library of the Tuscarawas County Public Library System this fall thanks to a grant from the Ohio Arts Council.
Ohio-based artist Barbara Nell Morejon will lead a seven-week felting class centered on creating flowers.
“Barbara is an exceptional felter with her work on display around the world,” said Adult and Teen Services Manager Robyn Guedel. “During this series, participants will explore various wet felting techniques to craft flowers.”
Creative Aging Felting Series is made possible in part by an investment of public funds from the Ohio Arts Council. The OAC is a state agency that funds and supports quality arts experiences to strengthen Ohio communities culturally, educationally, and economically. Project funding is provided by the Ohio Arts Council, through a grant from the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies in collaboration with E.A. Michelson Philanthropy.
The series will run on Monday, September 16th – November 4th. A culminating flower show will be held on November 11th when participants will showcase their floral creations to friends and family. The seven-week felting series is limited to 12 people who must commit to all seven weeks of the series.
To register for this free series, visit the library’s online event calendar or call 330-364-4474. All classes will take place at the Main Library at 121 Fair Ave. NW in New Philadelphia.
