The Tuscarawas County Public Library System has revamped its MakerSpaces this fall with new equipment.
New additions include a Cricut Maker 3 at the Strasburg Branch and Main Library. A sublimation printer and 5-in-1 Heat Press have been added to the Tusky Branch and Main Library. The 5-in-1 Heat Press can accommodate plates, mugs, hats, bags, and t-shirts.
“The Library’s MakerSpaces are do-it-yourself spaces where people can gather to create, invent, and learn,” said Technology Training Coordinator Leigh Burnham.
According to Burnham, the new equipment is in addition to the button makers, sewing machines, Cricut Explorers, small heat presses, and laminators that were already a part of the MakerSpaces at the Main Library, Bolivar, Strasburg, Sugarcreek, and Tuscarawas branches. Any of the five locations can accept 3D print jobs to be run on one of the library system’s three 3D printers.
Seasoned makers and those new to the maker movement can use the equipment on a first-come, first-serve basis. While there is no charge to use the equipment with your own supplies, the Library does offer supplies to purchase like cardstock, mugs, vinyl, Christmas ornaments, and more.
Those interested in learning more can call the library to reserve a seat for these 101 introductory classes and events. Space is limited for these events and registration is required.
