Strategic Plan: 2015-2017

Focus Areas

Based upon a community needs analysis, the Board and library administration selected the following six focus areas and corresponding goals as for 2015-2017:

Focus Area #1: Library Space for the Public

Strategic Goal:  The Tuscarawas County Public Library will create spaces that welcome and encourage community gathering and interaction while maintaining flexibility, efficiency, and balancing the unique needs of individual library users and communities.

Focus Area #2: Overall Customer Experience

Strategic Goal:  The Tuscarawas County Public Library System strives to provide a customer experience that will exceed library users’ expectations and create passionate advocates of the TCPL library.

Focus Area #3: Print, Media, & Digital Collections for the Public

Strategic Goal:  The Tuscarawas County Public Library System will maintain or see some increase in circulation levels through improved and streamlined collection development strategies that align the librarys budget allocations with individual collection usage figures and take into account publishing trends and customer interests.

Focus Area #4: Dynamic and Responsive Programming

Strategic Goal:  The community will recognize the Tuscarawas County Public Library System as a key destination for its educational and recreational pursuits throughout a lifetime, as well as a champion of literacy (early, traditional, financial, technological) in our county.

Focus Area #5: Community Presence

Strategic Goal:  The Tuscarawas County Public Library System will be a visible and dynamic presence in the community that will extend beyond the physical walls of its buildings.

Focus Area #6: Fiscal Stewardship

Strategic Goal:  In order to insure adequate funding for library operations that maintain the high level of service for which the Tuscarawas County Public Library System is known, the librarys board and administration will work together to maintain a conservative budget, to closely monitor opportunities for cost savings, to seek alternative funding opportunities, to educate the public about library funding, and to actively advocate for adequate state funding.
