I. Obtaining Materials
An honest effort will be made to obtain materials that are not available within the SEO system. Requests will be taken for items of all formats, including books, audio materials, videos, microform, and magazine/journal articles. No request can be guaranteed; patrons will be notified if their requests cannot be filled. The delivery date of ILL items cannot be guaranteed. Processing and delivery times vary and cannot be anticipated for individual requests. Patrons wishing to request ILL items must have a library card that is in good standing. No requests will be accepted without a library card. There is a $2.00 fee for regular ILL requests (books, videos, microform, etc.) and $.15 per page fee for photocopy requests.
II. Receiving Items/ Canceling Requests
When ILL items are received and processed, patrons will be notified immediately by phone, mail, or email. ILL items will be held until the due date posted on them. Items that are not picked up by the due date will be returned to the lending library and a $2.00 fine attached to the patrons library card record. Magazine/journal articles that are not picked up within four weeks will be discarded a fine attached to the patrons library card record. Patrons are encouraged to call the library if for some reason they are unable to pick up an ILL request within the specified time limit.
III. Check-Out Period
ILL items may be checked out for the period specified by the lending library. Each lending library has its own ILL policy, and it is our intent to honor the policies of those libraries that are willing to share their materials with us. We cannot guarantee the length of the check-out period for an ILL request.
An effort will be made to renew ILL items as requested by patrons. The possibility of renewal cannot be guaranteed as the lending library may refuse to renew items. Patrons who wish to renew ILL items are encouraged to call the library at least a day before the items are due. Items will be renewed for a period up to two weeks if the lending library agrees. Patrons should be aware that ILL items are checked out separately from SEO items and will not be renewed with such items. Patrons must speak with the Interlibrary Loan Department to renew ILL items. Circulation staff cannot renew these items.
V. Returning ILL Items
Patrons are encouraged to return ILL items to the Circulation Desk. If this in not convenient, items may be returned in the outside book drop.
VI. Overdue ILL Items
It is important that ILL items be returned on time. Fines for overdue ILL items are $.50/per day and continue to accumulate until items are returned. Patrons are encouraged to pay any overdue fees at the Reference Desk when returning items. Otherwise, fines will be attached to the patrons library card record. Overdue charges will be assessed beginning on the day after the item was due; renewing items will not erase fines that have already begun to accrue. Patrons are responsible for the replacement cost of any ILL items that are lost or damaged.
