Animals will inhabit the Tuscarawas County Public Library System this fall as the county library’s five locations continue the 2017 Animal Encounters @ your library series.
All programs are free, but registration is required. To register, visit the library’s online calendar or call the numbers listed for each program.
“From live stingrays from the Newport Aquarium to peacocks and owls, our libraries will be crawling with critters,” said Public Relations Associate Megan Kovalaske-Grimm. “All five locations will be hosting a wide variety of animal programs.”
The Main Library at 121 Fair Ave. NW in New Philadelphia will start off the festivities with WAVE on Wheels on September 9th at 11AM where children will learn about the amazing yellow stingray and see one in person. Call 330-364-4474 ext. 102 for more information.
WAVE on Wheels will make a second stop on September 9th at 2PM at the Bolivar Branch at 455 W. Water Street. Call 330-874-2720 for more information.
Escape to a tropical island at the Strasburg Branch at 356 Fifth Street in Strasburg on September 14th at 4PM when children will get to see an iguana and land crabs up close with a visit from Fifth Day Aqua. For more information, call 330-878-5711.
Aunt E’s Animals will be making a stop at the Sugarcreek Branch at 120 South Broadway with a presentation on peacocks on October 3rd at 6PM. A live peacock will make a visit after the presentation. Call 330-852-2813 for more information.
Birds of Prey will make a landing at the Bolivar Branch at 455 W. Water Street on October 12th at 6PM. Join the Ohio Bird Sanctuary and get an up-close encounter with different birds of prey native to Ohio. For more information, call 330-874-2720.
The Ohio Bird Sanctuary will make second appearance on November 8th at 6:30PM at the Main Library. They will bring their owl ambassadors to teach about owls and even dissect an owl pellet to see what they’ve been eating! For more information, call 330-364-4474 ext. 101.
November 14th at 6PM, the Tuscarawas Branch at 209 South Main Street will host an up close encounter with feathered friends from Aunt E’s Animals. Call 740-922-2748 for more information.
